What Makes Canopy Different?
As an independent firm, we provide fiduciary guidance focused solely on our clients’ best interests.
We believe big banks and large firms fail to provide the personalized attention you deserve, and that their conflicts of interest can prevent them from putting clients first. That's why we created Canopy: to deliver personalized wealth management and disciplined oversight to protect and grow your wealth.
Genuine Care
We don’t do things the easy way—we do them the right way. Where others take shortcuts, we dig deeper. Our promise is that you will never meet an advisor who genuinely cares about your family’s financial success more than we do.
Relentless Competence
Our team is committed to continuous education and innovation in wealth management. We never stop refining our craft—constantly studying strategies and human behavior to improve outcomes.
Simplified Clarity
Great advice should change behavior. We always bring the discussion back to the solution which is simplest, most efficient and most effective for you. We don’t ask you implement solutions unless you fully understand and believe in it.

FAQ
Does your initial meeting carry a fee?
No, our initial meeting is complimentary and carries no obligation. It typically lasts about 15-30 minutes and is designed to determine whether there’s a good mutual fit before moving forward.
Where do you service clients?
We serve clients nationwide, meeting both virtually and in person. While our offices are located in Michigan, Arizona, and Wisconsin, we currently work with clients in 32 states, and can serve clients in all 50. Our flexible meeting options ensure consistent access and collaboration, wherever you are.
What if Canopy ends up being the wrong fit?
We like to say we’re easy to hire and easy to fire. If you’ve onboarding with us you can leave at any time. If you were to work with us for a quarter or two, you pay only for that period, and leave at any time with no penalties. You will be refunded for any partial fee paid. We never use investment products or structures that would disadvantage you if you decide to move on.
How often will we meet or hear from you?
We typically meet two to three times a year for structured review meetings; often the right balance between staying well connected and avoiding unnecessary meetings. That cadence is always flexible and tailored to each client’s preferences and needs. Beyond those scheduled reviews, communication remains active and meaningful. We reach out when decisions, planning opportunities, or life changes arise, and clients can contact us anytime.
How does Canopy charge for its services?
Canopy charges a transparent, asset-based advisory fee that decreases as your assets grow. We never receive commissions or compensation from investment products, our only revenue comes directly from our clients.
This structure aligns our interests with yours: our compensation grows only when your wealth does. With no sales incentives or product commissions, our advice remains objective and focused solely on your success.
We don’t charge one-time planning fees to create a financial plan. Building and preserving wealth requires ongoing attention and thoughtful adjustments; not a single transaction. One-time fees often reward minimal involvement, whereas our model supports the consistent partnership you deserve.
Our fees are intentionally set below the industry average, even though our planning, service, and investment discipline match (and often exceed) those of higher-cost firms. We do this because true advisory relationships are built on alignment, trust, and longevity.
Fair, enduring fees reduce friction, promote disciplined long-term investing, and ensure clients capture the greatest share of the value created.
Our goal isn’t to be the most expensive advisor; it’s to be the one you trust for decades.

What’s included in your fee?
Our fee covers ongoing financial planning, investment management, and tax-aware strategies—along with continuous guidance as your life and goals evolve. Clients are always welcome to reach out with questions or decisions; there are no extra charges for meetings or conversations.
Who do you typically work with?
We work best with clients who value long-term planning, thoughtful advice, and collaboration. Many are professionals, executives, or families navigating complexity such as equity compensation, career transitions, retirement planning, or concentrated wealth.
What types of clients do you usually work with?
Clients we work with tend to value experience and judgment over short-term performance. They want to grow wealth patiently, understand that markets fluctuate, and respect the relationship as a long-term partnership rather than on-demand trading support.
Do you manage investments or just give advice?
We do both. We manage investments directly while also providing comprehensive advice across all aspects of their financial life.
How does the planning process work?
We begin by understanding your goals, priorities, and full financial picture. From there, we build a plan together, implement it thoughtfully, and refine it over time as circumstances change.
Where are my assets held?
Your assets are held at a third-party custodian, such as Schwab, in accounts that remain fully in your name. Canopy manages the investments, but you always retain ownership, transparency, and access.
What happens if markets decline?
Market declines are a normal part of long-term investing, and we plan for them in advance. During volatile periods, we focus on discipline, diversification, and helping clients avoid emotional decisions that can derail long-term outcomes.
Do you have an account minimum?
Yes, we generally work with clients who have at least $500,000 in investable assets. That said, we consider several factors beyond assets—including future potential, personality fit, referability, and age. If you’re close to that amount or unsure what qualifies, we’re happy to talk it through before scheduling a meeting.
What should I expect for returns?
Partnering with an advisor doesn’t guarantee market outperformance. Our role is to build diversified portfolios, manage risk, reduce taxes and costs, and help you stay the course through market cycles. These results aren’t always visible on a performance statement but show up in the long-term outcomes you might otherwise miss.
